![]() I've also learned that buying statues is the easy part displaying them properly is much harder. On the other hand, you take any limited edition statue and there will be fewer every year because people inevitably break them moving, dropping them, accidents etc. You can do some things to promote longevity, but nobody truly knows how long some of these will last. The condition on Hot Toys is somewhat fleeting-they use better materials than most 1:6 manufacturers but they can still deteriorate in the box. Never bought or felt like owning any stuff until I started on Hot Toys. I would rather own a Captain America fig than a Chris Evans in a costume. Hot Toys mostly works off movies and only dabbled in some comics related material lately thanks to the video games. Personally, it comes down to the source material. ![]() Picked up Hot Toys only last year, and they became something I would buy in-between statue purchases. Basically, what I'm trying to say, think about what you can afford and what you need, priorities first and then hobbies, I'm sure you'll have fun which is also important once all responsibilities are met.I started with statues, and am still collecting them. You can have any hobby you'd like and keep going with your life, as long as you have control over it as much as you can. However, life could be a bit different if I hadn't spent this much on them for exemple, my collection is tiny compared to others', but I've spent easily 15k over 7-8 years I've been collecting, which could have been used for other purposes, such a downpayment for an apartment or a house, etc though, I'm not going broke, I'm managing or "budgeting" all those purchases so I don't go broke or mismanage my money and I'm not going above a specific amount I can't afford every month. It is just that, a Hobby, you can have other hobbies and life may still the same. It is a nice hobby for sure, posing them and unboxing them, it is fun, not gonna lie but I wouldn't say it is a life changing hobby. ![]() To say it changed my life, that's just not accurate. So for me there are no negative aspects besides less money on the bank x] my daughter loves my lighted up displays from day one and makes me very proud <3 my friends are fascinated by the likeness and i often have some talks about the figures. ![]() ![]() My wife loves the nerd stuff as well, even though shes not that much into my figures but accepts it as my hobby and does like seeing them in general even though she doesn’t want our place to become too full of it. My hot toys display that way became a vent for all of my love for big franchises that dominated my childhood and that i want to be part of me and my life forever. a job, being married and becoming a father doesen‘t fit endless gaming nights anymore… it became my hobby at a phase of my life where my nerdism couldn‘t take as much time of my life as before. besides looking at them everyday at a prominent spot in our living room, i enjoy planning, customizing and building displays. I started collecting after finishing university and started a job, so i can pay it even though it becomes expensive over time.īut for me it‘s worth it every day. I love looking at them and showing them off a lot more than other collectibles before! ![]()
